KUALA LUMPUR: The government has allocated RM50 million grant to assist the palm oil industry in addressing food safety concerns, including the level of contaminant in palm oil, said Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong.

He said the government will continue to prioritise towards enhancing the quality and safety of Malaysian palm oil products for consumption, assuring that palm oil and its derivatives are indeed safe for consumption as a food item.

“Malaysia being a major producer and exporter of palm oil will continue to take measures to address food safety of palm oil,” he said in a keynote address at the Palm and Lauric Oils Price Outlook Conference & Exhibition here this morning.
